The Pharaoh’s Curse – Cliffhanger rooms Lake District

We were excited to go back to Cliffhanger rooms after being so impressed with their pirate ship room. We were taken back outside this time as the room was in a little stone building next to the entrance.

Game story:

An incredible discovery in Egypt!

The recent discovery of a pyramid, presumably the resting place of a long-forgotten Pharaoh, has set the world’s imagination afire. Rumours of treasure and unimaginable wealth have been circulating in the media. You assembled a team of leading archaeologists to join you on your mission to reach the inner tomb and discover the identity of this mysterious Egyptian king.

Many teams have ventured into the pyramid before, but none have escaped. The mysterious disappearance of these explorers has led many to believe the Pharaoh had his burial chamber cursed.

You must discover the inner tomb, identify the Pharaoh, and escape within 60 minutes, or else you too may fall victim to the Pharaoh’s curse!

The game play was very much linear and we worked together throughout. There was a good mix of searching and logical puzzles. At one point we needed a hint to help us with a word based puzzle but once we realised how to approach it, we thought it was very clever! The first part of the room relies on finding things and remembering them for later – not our strong point! This led to various moments of us laughing at our own ridiculousness. The ending of the game was more practical and the theming of the Pharaoh’s tomb was very spectacular.

We managed to escape with about 5 minutes left- despite this being an easier room we stalled on one part of the game by not searching properly!!

Highlight of the game

I was so impressed with the sarcophagus; it looked beautiful and really wowed me.

Any drawbacks?

The only thing for me was that I was very aware that the room was off the main walkway into the building, and since the room was open with hessian style backing, it did slightly prevent the immersion.

Overall Opinion

Again, another fantastic game which has been really well thought out. I would recommend a more experienced team of two.
