The Signal – Make Your Escape Derby

Finally time to go to Derby! I was very excited to come here as I’ve heard great things about this company.
Game story

Following reports of strange lights in the skies over Derbyshire, your team intercepts a distress signal, which leads you to an abandoned military bunker.

Once the door closes behind you, you quickly realise the signal was not all that it seemed, the bunker was not abandoned and you are not alone.

Work together as a team to solve the puzzles and escape.

The truth is in there….

I was concerned about playing in a team of 5 but we were actually all able to split off and have our own moments of revelation in this game. It was very rare that we were standing around watching someone else complete a task and we all had an active say, which I don’t feel is too common with that number of people!
The puzzles had an excellent mix of searching and traditional problem solving combined with practicality and the clever use of technology at various parts to help with our escape.

The ending of the game required us to make a decision which would affect the rest of our gameplay. It was very unique and thoroughly enjoyable! The game host was kind enough to show us how the alternative ending would have worked; I’m glad we made the decision we did but it was still very clever!

We had an escape time of 28:35 – a new record!!! Wooooo!!!

Highlight of the game

The alternative ending was such a unique, stand out element to the game

Any drawbacks?

I can’t think of any – so much fun!

Overall Opinion

A great game which would suit a variety of players. I wouldn’t necessarily say the sci-fi theme was “me” at first but I’m glad my horizons were broadened!
